Red Tail Catfish

Red
tail catfish are very pretty for a catfish, but this is not what sets them aside
from all other Amazon catfish. The meat of the red tail is
not like fish meat at all, it is more like pork. It is very delicious!
They can grow up to 100 pounds and can put up a tremendous fight.

| The fat of the red tail can be rendered
down to oil and used to fry anything you want. Amazingly though, the
oil of the red tail has very little, if any fishy taste. We will take
along some vegetable oil with us on are trip, but when it runs out, this
is what we will have to use. Actually I prefer it. |

These markings on this rock are not
natural. They are made by Amazon Indians, making stone axes. The Indians
will grind on these rocks for many days to form the head of their stone
axes. There are still many tribes of Amazon Indians that
have never been contacted before, so some of the rock grindings we may
see on are trip, may be fresh.

This is a picture an Amazon tiger cat catfish. These babies are
extremely hard fighters, and are another of the Amazons beautiful catfish.

This is a picture of a yellow handed
monkey. They are very curious creatures and it is not
uncommon for them to come down a tree to get a closer look at you, if they have
never before seen a human. I've had them get as close as four feet before.
