Welcome to Extreme Amazon
Adventures Extreme Amazon
Adventures specialized in rugged deep jungle excursions in the Amazon Rain
Forest of Brazil. The trips we offer are definitely not for the
lighthearted or tender foot. You have probably never imagined that such an
adventure still existed in the world today. Well here it is if you are up
to it! Amazon red howler monkey (below) ( click on picture to
hear him howl )
Have
you ever watched the Discovery Channel and wished you could go and see things
like they show on the Discovery Channel? To get off the beaten path
and go where no man has gone before? How about going deep into the Amazon
jungle, sleeping in hammocks underneath the stars, surviving off the land?
Imagine this, it's the middle of the night, you are awakened by the
sound of a roaring lion. But wait, you think to yourself, this is the
Amazon, lions are from Africa, so it can't be a lion! So what is it?
It's very loud and it sounds huge, and here I am in a hammock tied
between two trees, no walls, and no place to hide. Fear strikes your
heart as the roaring grows louder and another roaring starts on the other side
of you. You start to imagine lions or jaguars creeping up on you in the dark,
and at any moment they will pounce and that will be the end!
Well, you are
just like everyone else that has never before heard the howling of the red
howler monkey. His howling can be heard up to five miles away, and
is very frightening if you don't know what it is.
Some
of you just said to yourself, " I don't ever want to go there,
give me a hotel and a sandy beach please!" But some of you just
said, "WOW!, that sounds exciting! Man, I wish I could go
there!" Go and see the untouched jungle, travel down an Amazon river
in a dug out canoe, sleep under the trees. Go, do and see things that
I never before thought possible! If you just said yes to the latter, then
we may have the trip you have been looking for your whole life.
We often encounter individuals that expressed a
desire to get away from the tourist routes and really get out into the jungle.
They want to see real wild animals, not pets! They want to go some
place where a million people have not been before them. The
problem was that nobody offered such a thing. Mainly because 99% of all
tourists want hotels, room service, air conditioning and beaches. Most
tourists want to see the Jungle from afar and during the day, but when night
time comes, they tuck their tails and run back to their nice
little hotel room. They just don't have the heart of an adventurer. They
come from all over the world to get to the Amazon jungle and then they live just
exactly like they were back in their own homes. Where is the adventure in
that? A big waste of money if you ask us!
Then they found Extreme Amazon Adventures just like you
and at last they had found someone who could give them what they wanted.
We will take you out
into the untouched jungle and you will experience all of it's mystery and
wonders. Your life will be forever changed by the experience. You
will go back home with amazing stories that you will be telling to your
grandchildren. You will also leave with a deeper appreciation for
everything that civilization has to offer.
Now the
question is, are you one of those people with the heart of an adventurer? Are
you willing to step outside of the safety net that civilization has built around
you, and get out and touch and feel the Amazon jungle in all of it's mystery and
wonder? As you have been reading this page have you been saying to
yourself, this exactly what I've been longing for? If you said yes to all
of these, then you just might be the right kind of person for one of our trips.
These trips can only
be made during the dry season. The dry season starts in October
and ends in March. A maximum of five people at a time can go on each
trip. The trip can last up to a month.
Photography, wildlife observation, exploration, fishing, learning about plants
and animals, and learning some basic survival skills are all a part of
each trip and learning extreme Jungle survival techniques is available to those
who are interested.
Food will consist of traditional northern
Brazil style cooking. The Amazon jungle offers a wide variety of
food sources too, and we take full advantage of these as well. We
will take only what we need from the jungle and we will use everything
that we take.
